Drumming hunger

Drumming hunger

The rain is falling
the world’s heart is beating
I am drumming to its rhythm

its tears falling, rain is collecting
in the gutters, in the wide window boxes
in the corners of a mothers eyes

The world is lonely
and hungry too
my stomach is full of its hurt

The moon spent the night crying
why are the children barefooted
and asking for bread?

We will find our laughter
and our rain will nourish
and feed us

We will bring great bowls
to the world’s gathering
and we will say..”eat, eat”

But first we must cry
we must hold the moon
and beg her for wisdom
